Tucked into the car-free village of Wengen, Hotel Edelweiss is a family-run mountain hotel run by Daniel and Susanne Eisenegger, just a five-minute walk from the train station on the Lauterbrunnen–Kleine Scheidegg–Jungfraujoch line.
Since Wengen itself is closed to cars, the walk in is quiet by default — no traffic, no engine noise, just the alpine air and, on a clear day, the Jungfrau massif rising directly ahead.
The hotel has 25 en-suite rooms, most with a balcony and unobstructed mountain views — a rarity worth booking around rather than settling for. Rooms come with TV and free Wi-Fi, and the shared sauna is included at no extra cost, a welcome reset after a day on the trails or slopes.
Breakfast is a generous Swiss buffet, included in the room rate and served each morning from 7:30 (earlier in summer). Dinner runs à la carte every evening except Wednesday, with the kitchen turning out Swiss classics — fondue, raclette — alongside a small, carefully chosen seasonal menu, best paired with a regional wine or a cold beer.
Location is the hotel’s strongest card: central enough to reach everything in Wengen on foot, yet quiet enough to actually rest, and perfectly placed for the Jungfrau Region’s hiking and skiing terrain — Kleine Scheidegg, Männlichen, and the lift network fanning out from the village are all within easy reach.
Best for: hikers and skiers who want a genuine, unpretentious base in the Jungfrau Region without sacrificing comfort — not a design hotel, but a well-run one with the basics done right.
Address: Am Acher, 3823 Wengen, Switzerland
